Camp Liz James

Flowers are in full bloom, people are off on Spring Break excursions and next thing you know it will be summer! For those of you with children summer is a time when you need to find activities to keep the kiddos busy so thus you look into summer camps. How about signing them up for a jewelry making camp? Yes, it’s true we have a Camp Liz James! If you have a child who loves to do hands on projects and needs a way to express their creativity, and avoid the dog days of summer boredom, this may be the perfect summer camp for you.

Camp LJ Photos

Taught by our very own Sherri Earle, at our LJ summer camp the students will not only learn the basic fundamentals of the art of jewelry making, but will learn how to channel their creativity. Your child will have the opportunity to come up with their own unique designs while documenting the entire process. They will also present their projects to the class which will help work on building confidence and public speaking skills. There are many valuable lessons to be learned at Camp Liz James that your child can take away with them. Who knows maybe they will become a top designer one day!

Oscar Delights

One night a year the lovely women and dashing men of Hollywood gather together to celebrate the greats in the industry. The Oscars is not only a night of awards, it is a night of dazzling fashion. Trends spotted at this years awards were lots of neutrals and glistening sparkle. Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence was glowing in a white bride-like beauty, courtesy of Dior Haute Couture as well as some of her fellow nominees who also opted for a neutral color palette.

Oscar DressesThese leading ladies were definitely looking flawless, but one thing that caught our eye at the Oscar’s was the bright pops of color. We took colorful inspiration from a few of the actresses from the Red Carpet and paired it with a more everyday look with a pair of our new Spring earrings to match.

To start it off we have Jennifer Garner whom all of us here at LJ just love, love, love! We love her even more in this Gucci Raspberry colored dress posed alongside her Oscar winning beau Ben Affleck.

Oscar StyleDress, Carol Earrings

The LJ take on this is a Magenta toned shorter cut dress with similar frills. Tie in the belt with a elegant dark toned earring such as our Carol earring made with a dark brown pyrite to top off the look.

Reese, always stunning, always timeless, and now gorgeous in this Cobalt Blue Louis Vuitton.

Oscar Style2

Blue Dress, Reese Earring

We were so inspired by the vibrant hue Reese choose this year, and by her usual sweet sophisticated style that we dubbed our new Reese Earring after her. Pair this earring with a asymmetrical cut short dress in the same cobalt blue to achieve a look even Reese would be excited about. The gray pearl of the earrings will play off the cool blue hues of the dress to give it a blue shade to pair even better with the ensemble.

Kerry Washington this year not only has shined in her performances on screen, but is glowing so gracefully in this coral Miu Miu.

Oscar Style3Coral Dress, Laci Earring

Coral is always such a fabulous color for the Spring and Summer season and Kerry pulled this off very well. Pairing a fun, short, high waisted dress with a solid gold, sassy earring like our Laci can give you a great Summer night on the town look.

Which pairing is your favorite? Who would you give the Best Dressed Award to at this years Oscars?

P.S. Don’t miss our Spring Collection Launch March 22nd!

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is a week to give thanks to all you are grateful for and to be in good company. One thing that we know we are thankful for here at Liz James is all of our fans. Whether you are a long and loyal customer or have only had the chance to swing by the studio once or twice we want to say thank you to all of you! We take great pride in our jewelry and what we do here and are so happy when we see how much others appreciate our hard work. LJ would like to say thank you to you with a little treat to hopefully help you with your holiday shopping.

If you are not able to check us out online for Cyber Monday go to our calendar to see all of the upcoming events LJ will be a part of, including our fundraiser with The Care Communities on November 29th.

What are you grateful for this Thanksgiving?

A Time to Give

Giving back to the community around us is something that is extremely important to us here at Liz James. Participating with different charitable organizations in our community gives us a chance to be a part of some exciting events that bring our LJ team together. Recently we had the honor to attend Hospice of Austin’s The Beauty of Life Event. With the generous donation of sales rep Tina we were all able to attend the event and share our lovely LJ jewels, while also getting to enjoy the festivities! Below are some scenes from the event.

The best part of events like this are not only that we were able to do our part to help give back, but we also met many fascinating women in the community who are interested in doing the same. Kathryn Stockett, the author of The Help was the guest speaker at this event. She had many inspiring and humorous words to share with us of not only staying true to yourself, but always continuing to follow your dreams despite all odds. LJ is so blessed that we were able to be a part of such a great event for a good cause and even got a chance to meet the author!

Liz James is currently working with a couple of other charitable organizations to continue doing our part. This week we are selling the Holiday Shopping Cards out of our studio which give a $50 donation to The American Cancer Society when sold. Buying the card is a double positive because not only is your money going to an important cause, but you receive discounts on your holiday shopping at participating stores including Liz James!

An event to come….

We are hosting a special event here in our studio on November 29th for The Care Communities. For this event 15% of all sales will go back to The Care Communities organization that helps families who are battling HIV/AIDs or Cancer alone. Come join us for refreshments, fun, great people, and help to benefit such a great cause!

LJ strives to do our part as a team to continue giving back where we can. We encourage you all to go out and do the same!

What charities are close to your heart? How do you give back?

Taking on AFW

From the weird to the stylish, Austin kicked off their week in fashion. This was our first year taking a run at Austin Fashion Week. Although we were not able to be a part of many of the events, we had the honor of having Jamie nominated for a Rising Star award, and had our Bianca make a cameo at the opening night ceremonies. We have a few fun photos to share with you – our 15 mins in the spotlight!

We were happy to get a shot of the gorgeous Mary Catherine wearing our Bianca to the Shift into Style event.

Shift into Style was the kickoff to Austin Fashion Week. This event was hosted by Circuit of the Americas and included a red carpet that cascaded down in front of Formula One race cars.

Truly a fantastic way to kick off the week in the Austin area especially with the introduction of Formula One to the city this year. We were thrilled to have someone there to represent LJ and to have her share her photo with us! Thank you!

Now lets go from the beginning of the week, to the end of fashion week. With the special honor of being nominated as a Rising Star in the city of Austin, Jamie strutted her stuff with handsome hubby Vick down the Red Carpet of the awards show for Austin Fashion Week.

Along the way Jamie also had the pleasure of posing with pop violinist Josh Vietti who performed at the ceremony. This was our first year with a closer look at what Austin Fashion Week had to offer and we loved it! All of us at LJ are so excited to have had a small part in AFW, and to especially have had our talent behind the name LJ nominated for such a great honor. And hey maybe we didn’t win, but we sure did have fun! Oh and we definitely will continue to do our part to “Keep Austin Classy.”

On that note we will leave you with these shots we loved from Austin Fashion Week of the runway of Sarah Eileen taken by thecwaustin.com.

What were some of your favorites at AFW?
